Kannada is the principal language in Karnataka: CM Yediyurappa

September 17, 2019

Bengaluru: Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa is the latest leader to react over the ongoing ‘Hindi Row’.  The CM yesterday tweeted: “All official languages in our country are equal and as far as Karnataka is concerned, Kannada is the principal language. We will never compromise on its importance and are committed to promoting Kannada and our State’s culture.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s tweet on Saturday last, on the occasion of Hindi Diwas, had generated strong criticism from leaders across the political spectrum.
