Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrated in city

Mysore/Mysuru: Stating that youths must focus on national growth, MLA L. Nagendra said that youths should also develop a sacrificing mindset for the development of the nation.

He was speaking at the Kargil Vijay Diwas Programme organised under the aegis of Parisara Sneha Balaga near Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa Circle (Hotel Metropole Circle) on Hunsur Road here yesterday.

Pointing out that our soldiers are guarding our country’s borders without bothering about their lives, he said that youth should derive inspiration from this.

Noting that our soldiers have enabled us to lead a peaceful life, he stressed on the need for remembering our martyred soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the nation.

D. Devaraj Urs Backward Classes Development Corporation Chairman R. Raghu Kautilya said that the youths should learn lessons on safeguarding our country from the deeds and sacrifices of our martyred soldiers.

Karnataka Exhibition Authority (KEA) Chairman Hemanth Kumar Gowda said that the then Prime Minister Vajpayee motivated our soldiers, who fought  day and night against the enemy in Kargil War in 1999 and brought victory to the country. He further said that it is the responsibility of every citizen to ensure that the sacrifices of our martyred soldiers does not go waste.

Former Mayor Sandesh Swamy too spoke.

Earlier, floral tributes were offered to the statue of Field Marshal K.M. Cariappa at the Circle and tributes were paid to soldiers who died in  Kargil War. 

Ex-Servicemen R.M. Jaggesh, Ravindra Kumar Jetty, Divakar and K.P. Venkatesh were felicitated on the occasion.

Women and Child Welfare Development Corporation Director Renuka Raju, Jeevadhara Blood Bank’s Lion Girish, former Corporator Balasubramanya (Snake Shyam), Suresh Babu, BJP leaders Jayappa Jeevan, Parisara Snehi Balaga President Lohit, Brahmin Mahasabha office-bearers Suchendra, Chakrapani and Belaku Manju, Mysuru Yuva Balaga’s Naveen, Kantilal Jain and others were present on the occasion.
