Karnataka and Goa Directorate shines at All India Thal Sainik Camp

Mysore/Mysuru: The All India Thal Sainik Camp – 2023 (AITSC) was held in New Delhi from Sept. 19 to 30. A total of 91 cadets from Karnataka and Goa Directorate and others from 17 Directorates across the country, participated in the event. The girls’ team consisted of 40 cadets and boys’ team had 51 cadets. 

The foundation for this event was laid at Inter-Group Competition and Directorate Pre-Thal Sainik Camps held at Mysuru from Aug.1 to Sept.16. A team of about 100 cadets from 6 Groups of Karnataka and Goa Directorate were imparted rigorous training.   

 In the shortlisted 91 cadets team, 38 cadets were from Mysuru Gp out of which 26 cadets were from 14 Karnataka Battallion NCC, Mysuru, which is a record representation of cadets from a Group and single unit.

Cadets from Karnataka and Goa Directorate delivered outstanding performances, earning a total of 6 gold and 6 bronze medals in team events. They were crowned overall champions in both boys and girls camp.

This achievement marks a historic moment for the Karnataka and Goa Directorate, as it is the first time in history that it has secured the championship title for both girls and boys teams. The team was under the leadership of Contingent Commander (Girls), Third Officer (Associate NCC Officer) M. Mamata Prasad of Delhi Public School, Mysuru.

The girls’ and boys’ units were trained for competitions by the NCC Mysuru Group under the guidance of Group Commander Col. R.R. Menon and the Commanding Officers of all the Army Units under Mysuru Group were in charge for training. The girls’ team was also led by Sr. GCI Lekshmi Das, Sub. Mahesh and Hav. Amit and the boys’ team was led by Capt. Hari Prasad of ‘Bangalore B’ Group. 

Firing training was provided by Col. Manish Prasad, Judging Distance and Field Signals (JDFS) by Col. Siddarth Vatsayan, Map reading by Lt. Col. Srinidhi, Health and hygiene by Maj. P.S. Sangeetha, Obstacles training was provided by Col. Ashutosh Devrani and Tent pitching by Col. Arun Jaggi. The teams won trophies in all these categories.

This achievement of Karnataka and Goa Directorate is a stepping stone for attaining Inter-Directorate Banner at Delhi during the Republic Day-2024.
