Karnataka ICSE Schools State-level Tennis Tournament: Prerith, Bhuvan set up title clash

Prerith of Mithra Academy and Bhuvan of Betheny School, Bengaluru won their respective semi-final matches in the junior boys singles event and set up a title clash in the Karnataka ICSE schools tennis tournament 2017 which began at the De Paul International Residential School, Mysuru’s Tennis Courts.

Prerith scored a convincing 6-2, 6-2 win over Pruthvi of Santhone Public school in the junior boys singles semi-final, while in the second semi-final Bhuvan of Betheny School scored a 6-2, 6-1 win over Hemrish of Christ Academy.

Earlier the tournament was inaugurated by Dr. C. Venkatesh, Chairman and Associate Professor, DoS in Physical Education, University of Mysore. Fr. Aneesh Mathew, Principal of DPIRS presided over the inaugural function. More than 20 schools across the State are taking part in the tournament.

The Results: Boys Singles: Juniors: Semi-finals: Prerith bt Pruthvi 6-2, 6-2, Bhuvan bt Hemrish 6-2, 6-1. Second Round: Dhruv Deepak (Presidency School) bt Afsan (DPIRS) 6-3, P. Kumar (LFPS) bt Dheeraj Kumar (AVK, Mysuru) 6-4, Pruthvi (Santhome School) bt Somnath (Cambridge School) 6-1, Ram Dhanush (Gopalan School) bt Prathyush (Cauvery School) 6-0, Hemrish (Christ Academy) bt Prabhat Yadala (Ryan International) 6-0, R.S. Shreyas (Sarla Birla Academy) bt Vishruth Goel (Sudharshan Vidya Mandir) 6-1, A.M. Bhuvan (Betheny HS) bt Kairay Sundar (Sri Kumaran’s HS) 6-1.

Junior Boys: Doubles: Nakul & Sahadev (Santhome School) bt Harsh & Narayana (Sri Kumaran’s School) 6-4, 6-3, Sahil Anand & Ram Dhanush (Gopalan School) bt Shourya Vardhan & Aditya Mittal (Sarla Birla Academy) 6-2, 6-0.

Senior Boys: Tilak John (Chrisht Academy) bt Shane (Sarla Birla Academy) 6-4, 6-0. Junior Girls: Semi-finals: Sagarika (Gopalan School) bt Rishika (Presidency) 6-1, 6-0, Simran (Bethany HS) bt Vinushree (Santhome School) 6-1, 6-0. Second round: R. Rishika (Presidency School) bt Sadhvi (DPIRS) 6-0, Shreya Verma (Chrisht Academy) bt Binushree (Public School) 6-1.
