Karnataka State Shooting Championship: 2018 City shooters excel

The shooters from Mysore District Rifle Association (MDRA), taking part in the Karnataka State Shooting Championship-2018 held at Sports Authority of India (SAI) shooting range in Bengaluru from June 29 to July 8, fared well and won two golds, two silver and two bronze medals in Individual events and two team golds and one team bronze medal respectively. Rakshith Shastry finished 2nd among top eight shooters in the 10m Air Pistol Individual men (Champion of Champions) category. The team is coached by M.S. Suresh, ex-Army and MDRA coach.

10m Air Pistol Individual men (NR rule): M.S. Nagendra (88+87+87+79=341) – Gold; 50m Open sight rifle (Women): Bimbika Ponnappa – Senior & Junior Gold; 10m Air Pistol Individual men (ISSF): Rakshit Shastry – Silver; 50m Open Sight Rifle Men: Imran Ahmed – Silver; 50m Free Pistol Men: Rakshith Shastry – Bronze; 50m Open Sight Rifle (Men): Nanjappa – Bronze.

Team events

50m Open Sight Men: Imran Ahmed, Sumukh Srinivasa, Nanjappa – Team gold; 50m Free Pistol Men: Rakshith Shastry – Team Gold; 10m Peep Sight Air Rifle Team (ISSF): N.P. Manjesh, Gyan Ponnappa, G. Balu – Team Bronze.
