Kaveri Dance and Music Festival by Orissa Association Mysore

Mysuru: The Kaveri Dance and Music Festival, organised by Orissa Association Mysore (OAM) as part of its annual celebrations (Varshikotsava) will be held at the premises of ancient Sri Venkateshwara and Bhoga Narasimha Temple at Srinivasa Kshetra, located on the banks of River Cauvery in Belagola, Srirangapatna taluk, on Apr. 19 from 11 am.

Dr. M.S. Krishnamurthy, Professor Emeritus (retd.), Department of Ancient History and Archaeology, University of Mysore; Dharmadhikari CA H. Ramachandra, Chartered Accountant, Hariharan and Co, Mysuru; Dr. Ramasastry Ambarish, Chairman and Dean, MYRA School of Business, Mysuru and Er. Narasimhaiah, Retd. Engineer, Department of Archaeology, Government of Karnataka, will be the chief guests.

The event begins with alankara and puja to Sri Venkateshwara and Bhoga Narasimha from 9 am to 12 noon followed by mahamangalarati between 12 noon and 12.30 pm. Following the mahamangalarati, distribution of prasadam will take place from 12.30 pm to 1 pm.

Dr. M.S. Krishnamurthy will also deliver a short talk on the ancient temple between 1 pm and 1.30 pm. Later, the devotees and members present will have the opportunity to enjoy classical music concert by renowned artistes. The annual event will also feature Odissi, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Kathak performances by artistes at the Rangamantapa located at the temple premises.

It may be noted that the 11th century temple situated on the banks of Cauvery in Srinivasa Kshetra, Belagola, Mandya district, was discovered by the members of Orissa Association Mysore in September 2003 in a dilapidated condition and was restored and renovated to its past glory after the works on gopuram of Bhoga Narasimha Temple was completed during November, 2022.
