Three-day event to feature Harikathas and plays

Mysuru: Sri Rajeshwari Vastralankara Rangatanda, Mysuru, in association with the Department of Kannada and Culture, Bengaluru-Mysuru, has organised a three-day Theatre Festival in memory of Keerthana Sarvabhouma R. Gururajulu Naidu at Mini Theatre in Kalamandira premises here from Nov. 26 to 28.

Nov. 26

5.30 pm: Prof. R. Bheemasena, President, Karnataka Nataka Academy, will inaugurate the Theatre Fest. Prof. H.S. Umesh, senior theatre person, will preside. Srinivas (Papu), Chairman, Pension Selection Committee for the Artistes and Littérateurs in Crisis, Kalashree Dr. Lakshmandas, Harikatha Scholar and H.B. Yashoda, President, Sri Rajeshwari Vastralankara Rangatanda, will be the guests.

R. Navaratnamma and Prema Naidu, wives of R. Gururajulu Naidu and Subbanarasimha and Prakash Shenoy, senior theatre artistes, will be felicitated on the occasion.

Dr. Sheela Naidu, daughter of R. Gururajulu Naidu, will present Harikathe ‘Gajagowri Vrata.’

6.30 pm: Staging of mythological play ‘Mohini Bhasmasura’ by Mysuru District Kannada Professional Theatre Artistes Association. [Writer: Jayalakshmi; Director: H.B. Yashoda; Asst. 5.30 pm: Dr. M. Kiran Kumar, Harikatha Scholar, Mallikarjunaswamy, Joint Director, Department of Kannada and Culture and Radha Kodagu, Member, Karnataka Nataka Academy, will be the guests. Prof. H.S. Umesh, senior theatre person, will preside. H.B. Yashoda, President, Sri Rajeshwari Vastralankara Rangatanda, will be the chief guest. Felicitation to Raveesh and Nagaratna, senior theatre artistes.

Mysuru’s Harikatha Vidushis Vaani and Veena will present Harikathe ‘Lava Kusha.’

5.30 pm: Valedictory of the Fest. Prof. H.S. Umesh, senior theatre person, will preside. Mandya Ramesh, senior theatre artiste, H. Channappa, Assistant Director, Department of Kannada and Culture and H.B. Yashoda, President, Sri Rajeshwari Vastralankara Rangatanda, will be the guests. Felicitation to Rameshbabu Gubbi and Ramaiah-Janata Bazar, senior theatre persons.

S. Amruta Naidu, granddaughter of R. Gururajulu Naidu, will present Harikathe ‘Girija Kalyana.’

6.30 pm: Staging of mythological play ‘Srirama Paduka’ by Rangakeertana Sampada, Mallasandra, Tukamuru. [Writer: Toranagal Rajarayaru; Director: Kalashree Dr. Lakshmandas; Parishkarane:  R. For all the three plays, costumes and make-up is by B.R. Manjunath, B.R. Mahalinga and Jagadish of Sri Rajeshwari Vastralankara, Mysuru.
