Mysore/Mysuru: Kannada play ‘Kempu Hoovu’ will be staged at Sri Kuvempu Rangamandira, Vivekananda PU College premises, Jayalakshmipuram in city this evening (Feb. 9) at 6.30 pm. 

The play, which has been directed by Chandru Mandya, meditates upon the relationship between nature and children and is a parody of contemporary society. The play is based on Shabda Rashmi’s work, translated to Kannda by Nataraj Honnavalli.

The story begins with a red flower troubled by a worm because of which Sun gets angry and stops lighting the earth. Clouds and wind also support Sun and stop functioning all together. The whole world comes to a standstill including cats, frogs and hens. 

Alleging that this is the handiwork of some terrorists, scientists start creating a new Sun. And finally, the riddle gets solved with the help of a frog. 

The story ends with the revelation that everybody in this world is equal. Nobody is superior, nobody is inferior. Every problem has a solution. What really is needed is patience and understanding.
