Hunsur: Hunsur Police have arrested two youths under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for committing kidnap and rape. While 25-year-old Muthu alias Pratap, a resident of Saraswathipuram, was arrested for rape, Umesh, 27, of Kulkanike was arrested for helping Muthu.

Accused Muthu, on June 12, lured a girl from Coffee Day on bypass road and took her to Varanchi in the taluk where he raped her. After committing the crime, Muthu left her at the village bus stand and fled from the place. Umesh had helped Muthu to kidnap the girl.

As the girl did not reach home, her parents had lodged a missing complaint at Hunsur Police Station. But when the girl reached home and informed her parents about the incident, the girl’s parents informed the matter to the Police. The Police, who took the matter seriously, launched a hunt to nab the two youths and arrested both the accused at Hunsur Bus Stand yesterday morning. During interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed of committing the crime.
