Hanur: A realtor, who had gone missing in a mysterious manner from his farmhouse near Channapatna in Ramanagar district on Dec. 2, was found dead in a forest area near Ramapura in Hanur taluk of Chamarajanagar district yesterday.

Mahadevaiah (58), a realtor and brother-in-law of MLC C.P. Yogeshwar (who is also a former Minister), is the deceased. Mahadevaiah, who had huge stakes in real estate at Channapatna, Bidadi and surroundings, is suspected to have been allegedly kidnapped and murdered by a gang of three. The killers had bludgeoned Mahadevaiah’s face with a stone to conceal his identity before disposing of his body in the forest area, it is said.

Mahadevaiah is married to Yogeshwar’s younger sister and was the Director of Mega City, a real estate firm with Yogeshwar as its Managing Director.

He was at his farmhouse at Chakkere near Channapatna, when he was allegedly kidnapped by unidentified miscreants along with his car (KA-42 N-0012) on the night of Dec. 2.

The documents and clothes in the house were found ransacked, triggering the suspicion of kidnap among family members, who had lodged a complaint in this regard at Channapatna Police Station.

Meanwhile, Mahadevaiah’s cell phone was switched off but Channapatna Police had succeeded in tracing the mobile tower location to Male Mahadeshwara Hill Road. Even then, the Police were making calls repeatedly to his cell phone that was received once by a person who spoke like a drunkard before switching off the phone. Channapatna Police soon shared the information with their counterparts at Kollegal Town and Rural, Hanur, Ramapura and MM Hills Police Stations seeking their cooperation in tracing Mahadevaiah.
