Hubballi:  A match-winning knock by left-hander Amit Verma (59, 46b, 7×4, 2×6), helped Mysuru Warriors to register a facile seven-wicket win over Ballari Tuskers and begin their campaign with a win in their opening encounter against Ballari Tuskers in the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) 2018 tie played at the KSCA Rajnagar stadium, Hubballi, yesterday.

Put into bat, Ballarri Tuskers scored 145 for eight in 20 overs. Their openers Rohan Kadam (59, 43b, 6×4, 3×6) and Devdutt Padikkal (60, 42b,7×4, 3×6) added 92-runs in 60 balls and gave a good start.

At one stage, Ballari Tuskers were 115 for two in 15 overs, but a good two-over second spell by medium-pacer Vyshak Vijaykumar who struck the important blows in the Ballari batting line-up by taking four for 20, helped Mysuru Warriors cause along with skipper and left-arm spinner J. Suchith (two for 20) and were instrumental in restricting their rivals to a target which was achievable.

Chasing 146, Mysuru Warriors were helped by a 91-run second wicket partnership in 66 balls between south-paw Amit Verma (59) and Rajoo Bhatkal (48, 38b, 4×4, 2×6).
