Mysore Races-2018 to commence from Aug.29

The Mysore Races-2018 will be commencing from Aug.29 and end on Oct.21. This was announced by Mysore Race Club (MRC) Limited Chairman G. Venkatesh at a press meet at the MRC premises, foot of Chamundi Hill, yesterday.

Expected Stakes (including cups) stands at Rs.5,84,85,000. Following are the important Classic/ Sweepstakes Races:

  • The Srikantadatta Narasimharaajawadiyar Memorial Million 2018 – for three-year-old to be run on Aug.29.
  • The H.H. Sri Krishnaraja Wadiyar Memorial Trophy [Grade III] – 4-year-old and over – Aug.30.
  • The Maharaja’s Cup [Grade III] – 4-year-old and over – Sept.13.
  • The Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club Mysore 2000 Guineas 2018 [Grade III] – Sept.27.
  • The Country Stud Mysore Dasara Sprint Championship 2018 [Grade III] – 3-year-old and over – Oct.4.
  • The Governor’s Cup 2018 – 4-year-old and over – Oct.12.
  • The Mysore Derby 2018 [Grade I] – Oct.21.

The Race Track and the Training Tracks that have been maintained well during Mysore Summer Races 2018 and will be continued to be maintained so with all sincere efforts.

About 200 Betting Terminals will be in operation. The software has been upgraded.

New 18×30” big screen is being installed in front of the Grand Stand for the benefit of the public.

The Jockeys would be continued to be subjected to Breathalyser Test.

The Karnataka Racehorse Owners Association will continue sponsoring The Mysore 1000 Guineas 2018. The Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club will continue to sponsor Mysore 2000 Guineas 2018. The Country Stud Farms are sponsoring The Mysore’ Dasara Sprint Championship 2018, said the MRC Chairman.

Stewards B.U. Chengappa, Dr. N. Nithyananda Rao and Y.P. Udayashankar, Secretaries K.G. Anantharaj Urs and T. Raman, Dy. Secretary Dr. M.R. Jagannath, Chief Veterinary Officer Dr. C.V. Niranjan and others were present at the press meet.

Relief fund: On the occasion, Rs.10 lakh was given by the MRC towards the relief fund for flood-hit Kodagu.
