Mandya: Strongly opposing the Government’s plans for establishing an Amusement Park and conducting of ‘Cauvery Arati’ on the lines of Ganga Arati, at KRS in Srirangapatna taluk, farmers under the banner of Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha (KRRS) staged a demonstration in front of the DC’s office at Mandya on Saturday.
Raising slogans against the Government, the farmers urged the Govt. to drop its plans of setting up Amusement Park and ‘Cauvery Arati’ at KRS and use the funds meant for these projects for modernisation of canals and development of agriculture.
They also demanded that 8.5 percent yield should be considered while fixing FRP (Fair and Remunerative Price) for Sugarcane, payment of Rs. 500 per tonne as incentive for Sugarcane, scrapping of the three Farm Laws, setting up of permanent Paddy and Ragi Procurement Centres and implementation of the recommendations of Rangarajan Committee Report on Sugarcane by-products, among others.
KRRS State President Badagalapura Nagendra, Mandya District President A.L. Kempugowda, office-bearers G.S. Lingappaji, S.K. Ravikumar, Borapura Shankaregowda, Devaraj, Shivarudra, Vinodbabu, Manju, Raghugowda, Vijaykumar, Annaiah, Rudresh, Mamatha, Rani, Leela and others were present.
