KRS Dam and the controversy

July 31, 2021

Sir,

Following the controversy about the safety of KRS Dam, I checked the Khadakwasla Dam on Mutha river, 21 kms from the city of Pune built in 1869.

This Dam burst in the year 1961, July 12, 7.30 am due to the forces generated by three times the quantity of water gushing in from upstream. After 92 years. It was built with mortar. Like KRS, I guess.

The KRS Dam was built in 1932 and as of today it is only 89 years and the water storage is well-regulated unlike the Khadakwasla Dam (also known as Panshet Dam).
