Kulletira Kodava Family Hockey Cup logo released

The logo of Kulletira Cup Kodava Family Hockey to be held in 2018 at Napoklu was released in Madikeri on Oct. 16. Along with the logo, a brochure was also released. Kulletira family will continue the tradition of the famous Kodava Hockey Festival played every year by more than 300 families. Last year, Biddatanda family hosted the festival.

The Kulletira Cup logo and the brochure were released by MLC Shantheyanda Veena Achaiah and MLC Mandepanda Sunil Subramani at Madikeri Press Club. Kulletira family Pattedara K.S. Madappa, Sports Committee President K.P. Mandappa and Press Club President Ajjamada Ramesh Kuttappa were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Subramani said that though Kulletira is a small family, they have kept alive the tradition of hockey and has won the Kodava Hockey Family tournaments twice. He assured the tournament organisers that he and MLC Veena Achaiah would strive to get extra funds from  the Government.

Heaping praises on Kulletira family, Veena Achaiah said that the family has given many of its members to the Armed Forces and many of them have served in government under various capacities. The family is also known for keeping their Ainmane (ancestral house) in good condition.

The Kulletira Cup Hockey tournament will be held at three grounds at Napoklu and more than 325 teams are expected to participate. Organisers said that the tournament would cost anywhere between Rs. 1.50 crore and Rs. 2 crore. If the Central Government releases funds, Rs. 50 lakh will be utilised to develop the Napoklu Govt. School.
