Mysuru: Former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy visited Suttur Mutt yesterday and sought the blessings of Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji.
He spoke to the Seer for about 30 minutes about the present political scenario in Karnataka, directions of JD(S) and his future moves. Former Mysuru-Kodagu MP A.H. Vishwanath, who joined the JD(S) recently after quitting Congress, was also present.
Later speaking to reporters, Kumaraswamy said that his health condition was good and he had been to Singapore only to seek medical intervention for severe cough and phlegm. On actor Upendra floating a new political outfit, Kumaraswamy said that he would give Upendra suggestions if asked and would wish him good luck. On BJP National President Amit Shah sitting cross-legged in front of Sri Adichunchanagiri Mutt Seer Sri Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji, Kumaraswamy said that as the Seer himself has clarified on the issue, he would not comment on that.
The former CM said that his focus was to bring back JD(S) to power as the voters of Karnataka have seen both the BJP and Congress rules. “People must reject the Congress Government as it is incompetent of even tackling the floods in Bengaluru during rain. People have realised that only JD(S) can provide a pro-people Government and I have been touring the State to strengthen the party. The response from North Karnataka is tremendous,” he claimed. Kumaraswamy added that JD(S) will be inevitable to form the next Government in Karnataka.
MLA G.T. Devegowda, former Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University Prof. K.S. Rangappa and others were present.
