Mysuru: Marking World Women’s Day, JSS Law College had organised a function at its premises in Kuvempunagar here on Saturday last.
Speaking on the occasion, MCC Commissioner Shilpa Nag opined that women can take a tough stand at any critical juncture and hence, sought 50% reservation for women in political sector depending on the population. She contended that greater responsibility rests on women as she has to manage both house and career.
She observed that women concentrate more on their physical beauty which could sometime pose a few problems and challenges. She suggested women to focus more on work and career growth.
Gowramma Chandrashekar Nayak of Sirsi hailed as ‘Lady Bhagiratha’ for manually digging a 75ft. deep well by herself to solve the water problems of farmers, was felicitated on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Gowramma said that she began digging the well in a one-acre land for agricultural purpose and added that she was determined to reach the water table on any count which proved successful after digging for three months.
