Yelandur: Lakshmamma Sanjeevaiah (78), wife of Sanjeevaiah (retired employee of the Forest Department) and a resident of Maddur village in the taluk, passed away on Wednesday at the village.

She leaves behind four children including former MLA S. Balaraj, retired Yuvaraja’s College Principal Dr. Rudraiah, retired Sericulture Department officer S. Suresh, daughter Annapoorna, son-in-law retired Director of the Department of Public Instruction K. Ramaiah and a host of relatives and friends.

Lakshmamma, who joined the Health Department in 1966 as an Auxiliary Nurse and Midwife (ANM), had served for 38 years in the Department. She was popularly called as ‘Nursamma’ and served in various villages in Yelandur.

Last rites were held at the village, according to family sources.
