Lakshmi’s rebirth…

May 13, 2019

When the whole country was celebrating Mother’s Day yesterday, a Congress MLA celebrated her ‘rebirth’ by offering prayers and spending time with supporters. Dozens of fans thronged the MLA’s residence to wish her on her first birthday !

Lakshmi Hebbalkar, the feisty Belagavi Rural MLA, seemed to have pulled a publicity stunt by announcing that she had discarded her actual birth date, Feb.14, because she was re-born on May 12, 2018, when people voted for her in the Assembly elections.

“By electing me, the people have given me virtually a new lease of life. Is not this date more important than the day I was born?” she asked.

So logically, Lakshmi, who turned one on May 12, 2019, can stake claim to be the youngest MLA !
