Lay-off: DSS leaders stage protest

August 19, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Strongly opposing the Mysuru City Corporation’s (MCC) decision to lay-off 21 Pourakarmikas working in Zero Waste Management Units in city and terming it as unnecessary and unjustifiable, members of Dalit Sangharsha Samithi’s (DSS) pourakarmikas and unorganised workers unit held protest outside the Office of MCC yesterday morning.

Protesters urged the MCC administration to immediately intervene and revert its decision. They stated that all the 21 Pourakarmikas, who had been working in Zero Waste Management Units from the past six years, have been abruptly laid-off five months ago and urged the MCC officials to revert its decision.

State Convener of DSS Harihara Anandaswamy, former Deputy Mayor Shylendra, District Convener Dr. Alagudu Chandrashekhar, D.N. Babu, Mysuru Mahadeva, Chakrapani and others took part in the stir.
