Three held for illegal stone mining at Bebi Betta

Mandya: In a crackdown against illegal stone mining, a team of officials led by Pandavapura Assistant Commissioner (AC) raided a stone quarry at Bebi Betta on Tuesday and arrested three persons on charges of illegal quarrying.

Following  complaints that stone quarrying was going on illegally in Bebi Betta area  despite the ban, especially during the night, the officials raided the quarry and took three persons into custody, who were  found indulged in quarrying.

Pandavapura AC Shivamurthy, Senior Geologist T.V. Pushpa, Tahsildar Pramod, Geologist Dr. D. Natashekar and other officials took part in the raid,  which was carried out with Police security. Meanwhile, Senior Geologist Pushpa said that stern action will be taken against those indulged in any sort of illegal mining activities in the region.
