Mysore/Mysuru: The marathon counting of votes in the Legislative Council Polls from South Graduates Constituency that went on for a record 30 hours at the Maharani’s Women’s Commerce and Management College, drew special attention for the work of DC couple — Mysuru Deputy Commissioner Dr. Bagadi Gautham and his Mandya counterpart and wife Aswathi — who along with Hassan DC Girish and Chamarajanagar DC Charulatha Somal, all being Assistant Returning Officers, in ensuring that the counting process went on continuously and smoothly without any disruptions.
Election Commission’s Poll Observer Ponnuraj, a senior IAS Officer from Bengaluru and Mysuru Regional Commissioner Dr. G.C. Prakash, who was the Returning Officer, took the lead, with total support from the DCs of the four districts for ensuring smooth counting and announcement of results. The counting of votes which commenced at 8 am on June 15 concluded after about 30 hours at 2 pm on June16, when the results were officially announced.
