Lecturer accused of raping girl after promising to marry her

Mysuru: A private college lecturer, who befriended a girl on a matrimonial website, has been accused of allegedly raping her after promising to marry her. The girl and her family members have lodged a complaint at the Mahila Police Station in this regard.

The accused is 34-year-old Sandesh of V.V. Puram in city.

Sandesh, who came to know about the girl through a matrimonial website, collected her details which was uploaded on the website and sent her a message from his mobile phone.

He later introduced himself as a lecturer in a well-known college in city. After exchanging messages for a few days, he is said to have promised to marry her and asked her to send her nude photos to his mobile phone. The girl, who refused initially, later sent the photos as he would be her husband in future. She had even met him and moved around with him in a friendly way. 

A few days later, Sandesh took her in his car to a deserted place and raped her, according to the girl’s parents. When the girl called him over the phone the next day, Sandesh is said to have refused to marry her and depressed over this the girl had attempted suicide at her house. 

Meanwhile, the parents of the girl called Sandesh to their house and tried to convince him to get married. But Sandesh, who not only refused to marry her, allegedly threatened them with life, following which they lodged a complaint at Mahila Police Station.
