Mysuru: Lashkar Police have arrested two persons on charges of stealing LED TVs from lodges in city, after taking rooms on rent. The Cops have also arrested two others, who used to buy stolen TVs from them.

While the two persons who were stealing TVs have been identified as 34-year-old K.N. Vasudeva, a native of Kopatti village, Cherambane Post in Madikeri taluk of Kodagu and residing at T. Dasarahalli in Bengaluru and 27-year-old M. Nawaz of Chamundeshwarinagar in Bengaluru, the other two who used to buy the stolen TVs have been identified as Syed Shakeel of Shivajinagar in Bengaluru and Syed Farooq of Gargeshwari in T. Narsipur taluk.

The Police have recovered 27 LED TVs worth about Rs. 5 lakh from the accused. During interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed of stealing LED TVs from lodges in Mysuru, Hassan, Arasikere, Tumakuru, Dharwad, Hubballi, Gadag, Bengaluru, Bidadi, Lakshmeshwara, Ranebennur and Haveri, after taking rooms on rent.

All the four accused were produced before a Magistrate, who remanded them to Judicial custody.

On July 29, Vasudeva and Nawaz, who came to Rama Grand Lodge on Irwin Road in the afternoon, took Room No. 214 on the second floor on rent and left the lodge at about 2.48 pm on the same day with a large bag but did not return even after two days.

The hotel staff, on suspicion, went to the room only to find it not locked and upon entering the room, they found a 32 inch Micromax LED TV missing from the room and lodged a complaint with Lashkar Police.

Lashkar Inspector H.M. Kantharaju, who registered a case in this regard, took up the investigation, along with Probationary Inspectors E. Shivakumar and Pooja and arrested Vasudeva and Nawaz, following a tip off from their informants. DCPs Dr. Vikram V. Amathe and N. Vishnuvardhan and Devaraja Sub-Division ACP B.S. Rajashekar supervised ASI N. Mahadevappa, staff Parashivamurthy, Siddaraju, Lokesh, Pradeep, Lingaraju and Adham in the nabbing and recovery operation.
