Legislative Council polls for 4 seats on Oct.28

Bengaluru: The biennial election to the Karnataka Legislative Council from two Graduates’ and Teachers’ Constituencies will be held on Oct. 28 from 8 am to 5 pm.

The election was necessitated due to retirement of four members — R. Chowda Reddy Thoopalli from South-East Graduates’ Constituency, S.V. Sankanur from West Graduates’ Constituency, Sharanappa Mattur from North-East Teachers’ Constituency and Puttanna from Bangalore Teachers’ Constituency on June 30.

The Election Commission, having considered the inputs received from Chief Electoral Officer of Karnataka, has now decided that above mentioned biennial election to the Karnataka State Legislative Council from Graduates’ and Teachers’ Constituencies, be held on Oct. 28. 

Notification will be issued on Oct. 1. Last date for filing nominations is Oct. 8, scrutiny of nominations on Oct. 9 and last date for withdrawal of candidature is Oct. 12. The counting of votes will be held on Nov. 2.
