Mysuru: In a surprise operation, Lokayukta Police personnel conducted inspection at 14 Sub-Registrar Offices in the district, including five in the city yesterday.
Lokayukta Policemen split into several teams visited the Sub-Registrar Offices under general inspection and verified the records and style of functioning of the staff. They also collected the opinions of the general public about the working style of the officers and staff at those offices.
In the city, Sub-Registrar Offices are located at Taluk Office premises (Mysuru North), Ramakrishnanagar (Mysuru South), Vijayanagar (Mysuru East), Dr. Rajkumar Road (Mysuru West) and Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) Office premises and the Taluk Centres in the district.
The personnel attached to anti-corruption ombudsman focused their inspection about the transparency being followed in the procedures related to registration of properties, distribution of title deeds, registration of marriages, financial transactions, online payments, attendance and verification of documents among several others.
The Lokayukta personnel collected the opinions about the demand for bribe and the menace of middlemen at the Sub-Registrar Offices.
However, neither any cash nor files were seized during the inspection, that was focused on inspecting the total functioning of the Sub-Registrar Offices, according to sources.
