M.N. Bhagath Simha Memorial State Level T20 Cricket Tournament: Bangalore Occasionals emerges winners

Mysuru: M.N. Bhagath Simha Memorial State Level T20 Cricket Tournament, organised by Jai Hind Cricket Club, came to a close with Bangalore Occasionals, led by skipper M. Kranthi Kumar, emerging as champions defeating Vijaya Cricket Club in the finals played at SDNR Wadiyar Stadium in Manasagangothri here yesterday.

Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Vijaya Cricket Club scored 148/7 in the allotted 20 overs. Samit Dravid top-scored with 39 runs while Yuvraj Arora (35) and Sachin Shinde (32) were the other contributors. Lavish Kushal picked up four wickets giving away 32 runs for Bangalore Occasionals.

Chasing a moderate target of 149 runs, Bangalore Occasionals reached the target in just 17.3 overs with five wickets to spare. T.N. Varun Rao top-scored (67 runs off 41 balls) for Bangalore Occasionals while Bhuvan M. Raju (33) and Arush A. Joshi (19 not out) also contributed in the chase. Santokh Singh scalped three wickets for Vijaya Cricketers. T.N. Varun Rao of Bangalore  Occasionals received the ‘Player of the Match’ award for his match-winning knock.

Awards and trophies to winners were presented by former International Cricket Umpire A.L. Narasimhan and former Karnataka Ranji Trophy player C. Raghavendra during the prize distribution ceremony.

Individual Awards

Best Batsman: Krutik Krishna, Jai Hind Cricket Club (185 runs in 3 matches).

Best Bowler: Santokh Singh, Vijaya Cricket Club  (11 Wickets).

Best Fielder: Rajvir Wadhwa, Bangalore Occassionals (6 Dismissals).

Best All-Rounder: M.G. Naveen, Bangalore Occassionals (194 runs and 6 wickets).
