Sir,
The introduction of AI-powered traffic cameras in Mysuru and on the Highways leading to the city is undoubtedly a commendable initiative by the authorities. This automated system has significantly contributed to curbing reckless driving and promoting safer roads.
However, there appears to be a gap in the system that could undermine public trust — namely, the lack of photographic evidence accompanying online traffic challans. Many individuals have raised concerns, claiming they were following the rules, such as wearing seat belts, yet received notices for violations they did not commit.
Providing photo evidence of the alleged traffic offense on the challan website would greatly enhance transparency and public confidence in the system. It would also serve as a fair and irrefutable means of validating the infractions recorded by the AI cameras.
I urge the authorities concerned to consider this enhancement, which will only strengthen the public’s support for this excellent initiative.
