MAA Utsav 2017: Scientific sessions held in city

Mysuru:  The Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC&RI) Alumni Association (MAA) as a part of its two-day MAA Utsav 2017 held scientific sessions at MMC and RI Platinum Jubilee Auditorium, here this morning.

The organisers had invited doctors from various parts of the country and abroad to deliver talks on various medical topics. At first, Dr. Anish Bhel, Consultant Endocrinologist, Apollo Hospital, delivered a talk on ‘Obesity – The Pandemic’. The session was chaired by MAA Past President Dr. S.P. Yoganna and Dr. A.G. Ravishankar, Professor and HoD, Department of Medicine was present.

This was followed by a session on ‘Advanced Modulates – Treatment of Diabetics and other chronic wounds by Dr. Premkumari Raju, Consultant Endocrinologist, Diabetics and Metabolism, Seattle, USA. Dr. Lakshme Gowda, Associate Professor, Department of Medicine, MMC and RI were present.

Later, Dr. Sudha Kanthan, Practicing Pediatrician, Lakehood, New Jersey, USA, spoke on ‘Childhood Obesity’. The session was chaired by Dr. B. Krishnamurthy, former Dean and Director, MMC&RI. Dr. V. Aravindappa, Paediatrician, Mysuru, was present.

Dr. Karunakara Shetty, former HoD, Department of Medicine, Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Canada delivered a lecture on ‘Acute Coronary Syndrome’. MAA Past President and Prof. of Medicine, Wynad Institute of Medical Sciences (WIMS) Dr. C. Rajan, Dr. K.S. Sadanand, Prof. of Cardiology,  Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology, Mysuru were present.

Dr. R. Srinivas of Ramaiah Institute of Neurosciences, Bengaluru, spoke on a topic related to Neurology. The session was chaired by Capt. Dr. G. Venkatesh, former Superintendent of K.R. Hospital. Dr. Suresh, Associate Professor, Department of Neurology of MMC&RI was present.

The formal inauguration of MAA Utsav will be held this evening. Adichunchanagiri Mutt Senior Pontiff Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Swamiji will inaugurate. Rajiv Gandhi University of the Health Sciences former Vice Chancellor Dr. Kantha S. Jadav, Dr. S. Chandrashekar Shetty, MMC&RI In-charge Dean and Director Dr. S. Radhamani, Dr. M.A. Shekar, MAA President Dr. H.T. Chidananda, Secretary Dr. M.S. Kempegowda and others will be present.
