Mahabhisheka to Nandi atop Hill tomorrow

Blue velvet cloth to be draped on the Bull for the first time

Mysuru: Bettada Balaga Charitable Trust has organised Mahabhisheka to the Nandi Bull atop Chamundi Hill on Nov.5 at 9.30 am. This is the 12th Mahabhisheka, but for the first time, a 54-metre-long blue velvet cloth with maroon border will be draped on the Bull, said Trust President Prakash.

Addressing a press conference at the Pathrakarthara Bhavan here on Thursday, he said that the Mahabhisheka would begin at 9.30 am and there would be 37 different types of abhisheka performed. After the abhisheka, the velvet cloth would be draped. At 12 noon, the Mahamangalarathi prasada will be distributed.  

Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Ashrama and Mysuru Milk Dairy will provide 100 litres of milk each for the abhisheka. The remaining quantity will be given by the Trust and the participants for the puja, he said.

On Nov. 6, Deepotsava programme has been organised by the staff of JSS Hospital  at 6.30 pm and along with this, assistance will be provided to the Girls Higher Primary School atop Chamundi Hill from the donations collected, said Prakash.

Suttur Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, Sri Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swamiji, Sri Datta Vijayananda Theertha Swamiji, Sri Hosamutt’s Sri Chidananda Swamiji, Adichunchanagiri Branch Mutt’s Sri Somanathananda Swamiji and Sri Jamunagiri Swamiji of Vyagrahamukha Rudrapada Guhe (cave) atop the Hill, will grace the occasion. Folk music organised by the Kannada and Culture Department will rent the air, he said.

Trust Secretary Govind, Treasurer Sunder, Trustees Nandeesh and Bank Shivakumar were present at the press conference.

It may be recalled, the members of the Chamundi Betta Mettilu Hattuva Balaga had performed a similar abhisheka to the statue on Oct. 23,  the first Monday of Kartika Month.
