Mysore/Mysuru: The 73rd Mahamastakabhisheka of Gommateshwara statue at Gommatagiri shrine near Bettadur in Bilikere hobli of Hunsur taluk, will take place on Nov. 27.

Announcing this at a press meet here recently, Gommatagiri Kshetra Seva Samithi President Dr. M.V. Shanthakumar said Gommateshwara statue near Bettadur is the most grand one after Bahubali at Shravanabelagola. The first Mahamastakabhisheka at Bettadur took place on Sept. 10, 1950, he added.

He further said that the Mastakabhisheka will take place in the presence of Shivamogga district’s Hombuja Jain Mutt Seer  Dr. Devendrakeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji at 11 am on Sunday. For the first time, Mandya Aratipura Jain Mutt Seer Siddhantakeerthi Swamiji will be taking part, he pointed out.
