Maharaja’s High School and PU College seeks funds for repair works

Alumni Association celebrates Mummadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Jayanti 

Mysore/Mysuru: Maharaja’s High School and PU College Alumni Association celebrated Mummadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar Jayanti and Founder’s Day by garlanding and showering flower petals on the bust of the late Maharaja in front of the institution in city recently.

President of the Alumni Association B.S. Sridhara Raj Urs along with Principal Siddaraju, Vice-Principal Dr. D. Mahesh, Secretary M.R. Suresh, Joint Secretary Rangaswamy, Senior Journalist  Satish, old students Shyam Prasad, Raghavendra, Balasubramanyam, lecturers and others were present.

Later, Vice-Principal Dr. Mahesh, in his welcome address, expressed his happiness for the initiative taken by Sridhara Raj Urs in holding the event during Covid pandemic.

Stating that the back portion of the building requires repair and painting while the front portion was renovated, he requested  the Alumni Association members for financial help in  carrying out  minimum repairs works.

Sridhara Raj Urs, speaking on the occasion, said that he would give Rs.10,000 on behalf of the Association and gave a token amount of Rs.5,000 on the spot as advance to the Vice-Principal. 

He pointed out that at his initiative last year, an estimate for about Rs.1.4 crore for repair and painting works had been prepared by the PWD, Mysuru and submitted to the Department of Public Instruction through the Education Secretary. He said that he would write to the Education Minister to sanction funds for the institution that was built by the late Maharaja.

He further said that the alumni association would take up the false ceiling work of the library to improve its acoustics and  beautify it at a cost of about Rs. 2 lakh.

Old students may donate digitally to the Association account (SB account number: 54004861840) at SBI Shivarampet Branch. 

Philanthropist alumni Dr. N. Chandrashekar of Aditya Hospital, who could not attend the function, has promised to help and will be the Hon. President of the Association, Urs said.
