Prasar Bharati Content Synergy Workshop of Akashvani for Capacity Building

Mysore/Mysuru: Principal Director General of Akashvani Dr. Vasudha Gupta has given a call to part-time correspondents of Akashvani to hone certain skills in this technology driven era to ensure authenticity and credibility while gathering news in the wake of forthcoming elections in the country.

Dr. Gupta addressed the gathering after inaugurating the one-day Prasar Bharati Content Synergy Workshop of Akashvani for Capacity Building, organised in association with the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Mysore (UoM), at Vijnana Bhavan, Manasagangothri campus here on Friday.

About 50 part-time correspondents of Akashvani from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Kerala from the South Zone attended the workshop, organised in view of the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls due in  April-May 2024.

“Akashvani has maintained authenticity and credibility while producing news for radio. By giving impetus to heritage, culture and literature, we should gather news from the sources, without compromising on authenticity. The nearby Akashvani stations should be made better use of to disseminate the news on website, as all the stations have been equipped with internet facilities,” said Dr. Vasudha Gupta.

Amid competition between print and electronic media, the focus should be on being innovative either in approach, generating idea or in the way of giving information. Despite busy schedule, we should plan the assignments and preserve the original content. The missing links should be connected by establishing communication with the sources irrespective of politics and others and work without creating any hurdles for the Government projects.

Chairman of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication Dr. Sapna Naik said “There has been an intense competition among various wings of media, with the advent of web media, after print and electronic media. The focus should be on planning and selection of news, without ignoring politicians and the people.”
