‘Makkala Thatha’ passes away

Mysuru: Benaganahalli Bore Gowda (95), children’s Writer and a resident of 9th Main Vinayakanagar here, passed away in the wee hours this morning.

Well-known as ‘Makkala Thatha,’ he has written over 70 books including Makkala Sahasada Sathya Kathegalu, Kannada Kalike Patagalu and Echcha Santhana. He has also authored ‘Barakhadi aur Samyukthakshar Ka Calendar’ in Hindi to help learn Hindi easily.

A native of Benaganahalli in K.R. Nagar taluk of Mysuru district, he is the recipient of Sahitya Parishat Award and Sarvajna Award.

He leaves behind three daughters, two sons and a host of relatives and friends. A son had predeceased him. The Writer’s body was donated to JSS Hospital.
