Man arrested for murdering lover in Nanjangud

Nanjangud: A 28-year-old widow, who was in love with a man and staying with him since 10 days has been allegedly murdered by the man after she demanded him to marry her.

The deceased woman is Lakshmi, a resident of Hullahalli village in the taluk and the accused is Nagesh of the same village,  an auto driver by profession.

Lakshmi had married Manjesh of Terekanambi village in Gundlupet taluk about 10 years back and Manjesh had passed away two years after marriage. The couple has a son.

After the death of Manjesh, Lakshmi began to stay with her mother along with her son. About six years ago, Lakshmi developed relationship with one Harshan and were living together in a live-in relationship. But three years ago, Harshan committed suicide by hanging self.

Later, Lakshmi took up a job at a garment factory in Mysuru and used to go to work from her mother’s house. About two years ago, Lakshmi came in contact with Nagesh and their friendship turned to love. Nagesh too was frequenting Lakshmi’s house.

Lakshmi, recently had told Nagesh not to come to her house following which about 10 days ago, Nagesh, who told that he would marry Lakshmi, took her with him. He  took up a rented house and began to stay together, according to the complaint lodged by Lakshmi’s mother Nanjammanni with the Police.

Nanjammanni has further stated that Lakshmi had demanded Nagesh to marry him and had asked her to come to the house on Nov. 15 for talks. But when Nanjammanni reached the house, Nagesh had already killed Lakshmi by strangulating her.

Meanwhile, Hullahalli Sub-Inspector Surendra and staff began to look out for Nagesh and finally arrested him at Hullahalli Bus Stand. 

Dy.SP Prabhakar Rao Shinde, Circle Inspector Rajashekar and others visited the spot.
