Man arrested for smuggling live tortoises, deer antlers

Srirangapatna: Forest Mobile Squad personnel have arrested a person, who was illegally transporting two live tortoises and deer antlers and have handed over the accused to the Zonal Forest Officers.

The arrested person is 38-year-old Madappa, a resident of Channahallibore village, near Mahadevapura in the taluk. 

The accused was nabbed when he was transporting the tortoises and antlers near Varuna Canal bund at Hebbadi.

Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Shashidhar, Range Forest Officer (RFO) Sunitha, DRFOs Anand Gowda and Shivu took part in the nabbing operation.
