Man ends life at city theatre

A man allegedly committed suicide by consuming pesticide used to kill cockroach, at a theatre in the city yesterday.

The deceased is identified as Manju, a resident of Metagalli, aged between 55-60 years, according to the details obtained from the Aadhaar card, found in his pocket. He had bought tickets for the morning show at 10.30 am and first show at 4.30 pm at Prabha Talkies on Old Bank Road.

The theatre has 700-seat capacity and about 40 had bought tickets for the first show. Manju, who was seated in the back row, is suspected to have consumed the poisonous substance, while watching the movie. The reason for his extreme step is yet to be ascertained. The body has been shifted to Mysore Medical College and Research Institute (MMC and RI) mortuary for post-mortem.

Devaraja Police have registered a case.
