Kengeri: Praveen (24) and Priya (19), hailing from Mandya, who got married just two months ago committed suicide at their residence in Kengeri yesterday. Police said that the couple had borrowed loans from some persons and were finding it difficult to repay it. The couple ran a small Gobi Manchurian business at Kengeri and struggled to make a livelihood.
About 15 days ago, they had moved into a rented house which belonged to Narayanappa at Mylasandra village near Kengeri. They were found hanging at their residence on a single saree from a wooden beam attached to the ceiling at their house. It is suspected that the suicide took place at about 7.30 pm yesterday. The specific reason for this drastic step is yet to be known. But it is suspected that Praveen had fallen into debt after taking loans for his wedding and establishing his business.
Praveen, son of Shankaraiah and Devarajamma hails from Channasandra village in Maddur and Priya, daughter of Raju and Pushpa, belonged to Uttarahalli, Bengaluru. A complaint has been lodged by Pushpa at the Kengeri Police Station.
