Mara Nayaka Yuva Brigade calls for casting ‘NOTA’ option in by-polls

April 7, 2017

Mysuru – Alleging that successive Governments in the State had failed to fulfil the demands of the Nayaka community, the Palegar Mara Nayaka Yuva Brigade, Karnataka, has appealed to the Nayaka community members to only use ‘NOTA’ option (none of the above) while exercising their franchise in the forthcoming Nanjangud and Gundlupet by-polls.
Addressing the press meet at Pathrakarthara Bhavan this morning, the Brigade President Devatta said they have been pressing to include Nayaka sub-castes such as Parivara, Raja Parivara, Besta, Bestar, Beda etc., in the Scheduled Tribe (ST) list and to hike reservation for ST communities to 12.5 percent in accordance with the population. But governments have ignored these demands and hence the Brigade has asked all Nayaka community members to use NOTA option and teach a lesson to the candidates.
Brigade office-bearers R. Narayan, Mahesh, Ranjukumar, G.S. Nayak were present.
