The Covid-19 pandemic is burgeoning  across the country without any respite so also the rate of testing. Leading Pharmaceutical Companies are moving at a breakneck speed for the elusive vaccine which in all likelihood might be ready by early 2021. Rich countries like USA, Germany and other European countries have already been funding Pharma Companies with potential to succeed in their quest for the vaccine. Even in India many Pharma Companies are successfully pursuing the trials to make a breakthrough at the earliest.

Even if the vaccine is ready by March-April 2021, it will take a couple of months for the vaccine to be available for the vulnerable section. The Government has to strengthen the supply chain and distribute across the length and breadth of the country. There will be clamour by various States to get the vaccine on priority to cater to their citizens first. The Covid pandemic will be spreading fast across the country given the citizens’ scant regard for following the Covid protocols in letter and spirit. It is frightening to see thousands of people belonging to various organisations protesting against the Government’s policies with little care for social distancing and wearing mask etc. We are virtually sitting on a powder keg to explode.

 Therefore, it is the bounden duty of all the political, farmer and other organisations to observe self-restraint and discipline in avoiding large gatherings and espouse their genuine concerns in a covid compliant manner. Covid does not make distinction on class, creed or wealth  as we have been seeing the sad death of our law-makers, doctors, the rich and the poor alike. Hence,  MASK is our Vaccine till mid-2021.
