December 4, 2017

Bharatinagar,(Mandya):  The Mastakabhisheka was performed to the 12 ft. tall centuries old monolith statue of Bahubali at Aretippur near here yesterday.

The statue looked vibrant in different hues as colourful liquid mixed with fragrant fluids were poured in it as part of the rituals, in the presence of Charukeerthi Bhattaraka Swamiji of Shravanabelagola Jain Mutt and amidst cheering by the devotees.

A total of 13 Jain Sanyasis from across the country attended the event in which 1,008 Kalasha Mastakabhisheka was held for the first time in over 1,200 years. Jain women carrying the 1,008 Kalashas went in the 11/2 km long procession to the Bahubali Hillock from Chikkabetta.
