Mysuru: Amid complaints of delay over presentation of Budget for the year 2019-20, Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) has decided to table the Budget on Feb.28.

MCC has finalised the date and it will conduct the meeting on the same day at 11 am at its Council Hall. It also decided to issue the notice to all 65 Corporators to attend meeting without fail.

Mayor Pushpalatha Jagannath will preside over the meeting. Finance and Taxation Standing Committee Chairperson Shobha Sunil will present the Budget 2019-20.

Sources told Star of Mysore, MCC will give impetus to development of parks, to contain stray cattle, drinking water and sanitation issues. They also told that there will be no mention of new projects, schemes during this year Budget.

Earlier, MCC had scheduled the Budget presentation meeting on Feb.23 and postponed to 26 as it must give enough time for consultations with Corporators.

The other reason for the delay in presentation of the Budget is that MCC expected that the Election Commission of India (ECI) would announce the notification for LS polls on Feb.27 leading to postponement.

As ECI has plans to announce the notification on Mar.5, MCC has decided to present the Budget on Feb.28.

MCC will further postpone the date of presentation of the Budget in case if ECI announces the notification on Feb.27 as publicised itself.

It may be recalled that many Corporators had expressed displeasure over the delay in the presentation of the Budget.
