MCC Health Panel inspects Indira Canteens

July 26, 2023

Mysore/Mysuru: Mysuru City Corporation’s (MCC) Standing Committee on Public Health, Education and Social Justice visited Indira Canteens in various parts of city recently.

The inspection visit of the Members of the Standing Committee under the leadership of its Chairperson Savitha Suresh began from Indira Canteen at K.R. Hospital premises, where a check was conducted on cleanliness, drinking water system, quality and quantity of food. It was followed by a visit to the canteen at Kumbarakoppal that also has a centralised kitchen.

The Committee even visited the soon to be functional Waste Processing Unit at Kesare and inspected  the equipment and obtained information about its maintenance.

To realise MCC’s plans to install benches and build shelters for the benefit of patients in the premises of Cheluvamba Hospital, the Committee members inspected the place.

Savitha Suresh said that “As the economically poor patients visiting K.R. Hospital have food at the Indira Canteen in its premises, it has been instructed to maintain cleanliness and give food in adequate quantity. While at the centralised kitchen in Kumbarakoppal, several lapses came to notice. Hence it has been told to give priority to cleanliness and use quality ingredients. Women who bring their kids to Cheluvamba Hospital lack seating facility. Hence, it has been planned to build a shelter for their benefit and action will be taken in this regard.”

Members of the Standing Committee C. Vedavathi, M. Satish, M. Shivakumar, Sawood Khan and Ayaz Pasha, MCC Senior Health Officer Dr. D.G. Nagaraj and others were present.
