MCC Officer thrashed for misbehaving with woman

July 21, 2021

Suspension recommended to DC; Orders awaited

Mysore/Mysuru: An officer of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) was thrashed by angry women for allegedly misbehaving with a woman.

The incident took place at Sharadadevi Nagar MCC Zonal Office-3 in city recently and the video of women barging into the office and beating up the officer has gone viral in the social media. Even the telephonic conversation between the officer and the lady too has gone viral.

Meanwhile, MCC Commissioner G. Lakshmikantha Reddy, on the basis of a report submitted by Zonal Officer Rajesh, has sent a detailed report to the Deputy Commissioner on July 2 recommending suspension of the guilty officer.

Details: A woman had approached Vishakanta, a Second Division Assistant at MCC Zonal Office-3 in Sharadadevi Nagar, requesting him to issue Domicile Certificate to apply for Ashraya House in Chamundeshwari Assembly Constituency.

Applications were invited by the Department of Revenue from the eligible citizens for allotment of Ashraya Houses in Chamundeshwari  Assembly segment.

The officer, who noticed her mobile number mentioned in the application, called her on June 30 and claimed himself as the sanctioning authority of Ashraya Houses.

He then allegedly misbehaved with her over phone by talking with her indecently. When the woman shared this incident with her neighbours, a group of women came to the Zonal Office in Sharadadevi Nagar and thrashed Vishakanta in front of other officers.

Saraswathipuram Police have registered a case and are investigating.
