MCC officials raid shops; seize 367 kgs of banned plastic

Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) officials, who are acting tough to prevent the sale, distribution and storing of banned plastic materials, raided a few shops in Santhepet and Shivarampet and seized over 300 kgs of banned plastic items.

Led by MCC Zonal Officer Pratibha and Environmental Engineer Mythri, the MCC’s Abhaya team members, conducted a raid in Santhepet on June 12 and seized 190 kgs of the banned plastic items from a truck, which was parked in front of Sri Mahadeshwara Enterprises besides imposing a fine of Rs. 10,000.

On June 11, the MCC officials raided a shop in Shivarampet and seized 177 kgs of plastic items besides imposing a fine of Rs. 25,000 on the shop owner.

Environmental Engineer Mythri said that such raids will continue on shops selling and storing the banned plastic materials in city.
