MCC razes illegal house on Govt. land at Giriyabovipalya

February 1, 2020

Mysore/Mysuru: Continuing its drive against unauthorised constructions on Government lands, the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) razed down a house built illegally on a Government land at Giriyabovipalya here on Friday.

Following complaints that over 20 unauthorised houses had come up in about one acre area near Giriyabovipalya lake, the MCC officials, led by Assistant Commissioner M.R. Murali, demolished a new house built illegally on Government land. Although the house owner Nagamma and the locals opposed the MCC’s action, the authorities went ahead and demolished the unauthorised house, with Police protection.

M.R. Murali  told SOM that several houses have come up at Giriyabovipalya Lake land and a new one was being built illegally, when the MCC had instructed the house owner not to go ahead with the construction. But the construction went on, which forced the MCC to demolish, he said and added that MCC’s action also serves as a warning for others.
