Convoy routes marked; SPG team to visit city in day or two

Mysuru: In view of the tentative visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Aug.1 to inaugurate Viveka Smaraka — Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre (Viveka Memorial), built by Sri Ramakrishna Ashram on Narayana Shastri Road in city, the works have begun to clean the roads, where the convoy of PM passes through.

The pourakarmikas of Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) were seen sweeping the stretch of service road between Balagangadharanatha Swamiji Circle and Bogadi Outer Ring Road (ORR) junction this morning while earth moving machines were deployed to clear the mound of debris dumped along service road and remove the waste, as part of extended security measures.

Sources told Star of Mysore that Special Protection Group (SPG), an elite unit of commandos, which forms the core security of the PM, has instructed the authorities concerned to make arrangements for the travel of the Prime Minister by road from Mysore Airport at Mandakalli on Mysuru-Nanjangud Road to the programme venue.

The SPG team is likely to visit Mysuru in day or two.

The tentative main route is as follows: Helicopter from Mysore Airport to temporary helipad at Oval Grounds, followed by road to Viveka Smaraka on N.S. Road and later by road again to Sri Ramakrishna Ashram in Yadavagiri.

The alternative route: Airport to ORR APMC Yard Bandipalya junction, take left towards Srirampura ORR junction, Dr B.R. Ambekar Circle, Aditya Circle near Somanathanagar and Dattagalli junction, KEB Junction near Balagangadaranatha Swamiji Circle, left towards Bogadi ORR junction, right towards All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) junction, Kukkarahalli Lake Road, Mysuru Development Authority (MDA) junction, Sita Vilas Road and left towards Viveka Smaraka.

The PM will be arriving in a special aircraft from Delhi Airport to Mysore Airport, the schedule of which is yet to be announced.
