Mysuru, June 6  – In a significant decision, the Mysuru Development Authority (MDA) has approved the layout plan maps of 140 private layouts in the city, factoring in planned urban expansion and future growth needs.

The decision was taken at an MDA meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner and MDA Chairman G. Lakshmikanth Reddy at the Authority’s Office on JLB Road in Mysuru yesterday.

The meeting also cleared proposals for civic and development works worth Rs. 131 crore. The projects include the construction of stormwater drains, the development of parks and traffic circles and the improvement of key road infrastructure across the city.

MDA Commissioner K.R. Rakshith said the works have been taken up based on representations from elected representatives and residents of MDA-approved layouts, who have been seeking better civic amenities and infrastructure facilities.

The meeting also decided to forward a proposal to the Government seeking clarity on the renewal of lease periods of Civic Amenities (CA) sites allotted by the MDA.

Officials said several private institutions, including educational institutions and hospitals, have been established on such CA sites, necessitating a policy decision on the future course of action.

The issue of applications seeking allotment of alternative sites also came up for discussion. It was decided that such applications will be examined individually only after clear MDA guidelines are framed in this regard.

Officials also noted that the Government has already issued directions to the Authority not to allot alternative sites for now.

MCC Commissioner Shaikh Tanveer Asif, City Planner Member Shivaramaiah, MCC Superintending Engineer C.S. Manju, MDA Secretary K. Johnson, member Sunil Kumar and other officials were present at the meeting.
