Miscreant caught while attempting to snatch gold chain

Mysuru: A bike-borne miscreant was arrested by Vijayanagar Police after he made an attempt to snatch a gold chain of a woman near Hootagalli yesterday.

The arrested miscreant is 26-year-old Raghu, a resident of Kiraguru in Hunsur. The woman, identified as Roopa, was walking near Hootagalli, when Raghu, who came on a bike from behind, tried to yank off Roopa’s gold chain. When Roopa screamed for help, the public tried to catch Raghu and Raghu in a bid to escape rammed the bike into an electric pole and fell down.

Meanwhile, Inspector H.N. Balakrishna, who was on his regular beat with his staff, rushed to the spot and arrested Raghu. Inspector Balakrishna had taken charge only yesterday morning.
