Nanjangud: A 29-year-old lorry driver, who had gone missing since four months, has been allegedly murdered.
While the deceased is C. Devaraju of Karya village in the taluk, the person, who reportedly murdered him, is Anil Kumar of the same village and the Police have registered a case against him.
Devaraju, who used to go to work, used to come home once in 15 days or a month. He left home on March 20 but did not come back and his wife Rajamma had lodged a missing complaint at Hullahalli Police Station on July 8.
On July 18, when Rajamma was weeping remembering her husband, one Shivanna of the village, who came there told her that he along with Devaraju and Anil Kumar had partied near the canal on March 20 during which a fight broke out between Anil and Devaraju over a woman.
Shivanna further told Rajamma that as the fight escalated, Anil assaulted Devaraju and pushed him (Devaraju) into the canal and he (Shivanna) jumped into the canal to rescue Devaraju but in vain as strong water force swept away Devaraju. Shivanna also told Rajamma that Anil had threatened him with life if he disclosed the incident to anyone.
Based on Shivanna’s sayings, Rajamma, accusing Anil Kumar of murdering her husband has lodged a complaint at Hullahalli Police Station and the Cops have registered a case.
